My fuel pump leaks Oil? Need some advice.

I seem to have a weird situation where my fuel pump decides to spew oil when the engine is revved hard. Here are some photo's.

Does anyone know what the little hole is for? I'm almost certain this is where it is coming from. From above it is located right under the centreline of the fuel pump almost right in front of the oil-slick on the wheel housing boot.

I suppose I could wring the engine in neutral and see where it is coming from but, I only noticed it after I drove the car this arvo.

Swap the pump out for a genuine item. I had the same style as you currently have installed and it was no where near as good as the geuine ones. Is you engine the early or late A12. [guessing early] I have an old spare one that works fine, but could do with a clean, All yours if you want it for free. Cosidering your "K" appears to be as near original as possible, these aftermarket pumps just look out of place..

Cheers, Yeah okay. Weird, I wonder what the holes is for though? Pretty poor defect if that's the case.

I'll have a browse and see if I have one here (late A12 by the way with dizzie midway), it's a bit annoying that it does that. If I don't find one I'll take you up on that offer.

Yes, that type of pump is non-rebuildable. It might even be a genuine Nissan item.

The 1960s and 1970s Nissan pumps are are rebuilable and have screws to disaassemble it. Will last forever.

Just as a follow up, here are some pictures of the part. Definitely a throw-away item (but genuine Nissan part) as it is impossible to open, inspect and re-assemble. Shame really because I'd like to know where and how it failed (or whether there's something up with the oiling circuit/system).

Might compare breather hole heights/passages if possible to see what's going on.

I like your post about leakage of fuel pump. Can you tell me Did your fuel pump leak all the time or only when the engine was under some strain?Normally, if you have a broken pump diaphragm, only gasoline will appear from the breather tube. The fuel pump diaphragm can leak either direction or both.

i found out that it was going to cost me $41 for a rebuild kit for my fuel pump and $92 for a complete new pump with new fittings and clamps ,it isnt realy worth rebuilding for that price ,and the new pump has alot more tension when i push on the little level/arm ,so it could also be better for reving an engine harder as it may stay in contact with the cam lobe instead of skipping at high revs ,maybe ...
