coilovers and new curved rectangular tube crossmember to lower engine with winged sump.
Tilt engine with custom bellhousing and place starter facing the other way parallel to box.

beyond that AY head or L series with crossflow Z head and fist line of above.

beyond that get a brilliant tig welder to cut a rover v8 in halve and then get a
modded L series crank to result in a slant 4 towards the drivers side :)
Done in speedway so not impossible. 2ltrs down from 4ltr.

would bolt to the carbs mount if you flipedd it around 180? tha would give you clearance.

for a $20 air filter housing- dont spend heaps of $$$.

mod it to fit with out rocker covers, push rods mods etc.

and you could still access the oil filler cap

Ugly? I couldn't give two shts what it looks like, it's under the bonnet and like Mik said it cost me sweet FA.

But I looked at flipping it and that didn't look like it was going to work, I could remove some of the plastic to help it clear the rocker cover so that's another option. I guess I'll make the manifolds first and see what I am left with.

i wouldnt want to mess with custom sumps or rocker covers, make the manifold fit even flush with the top of the rocker cover(at least it will be secure to the rocker cover then- tech screws lol) and make a bonnet bulge.

If you really want to use the black plastic filter, then i would go down the modded bonnet option.

The cheapest is a bolt on hornet scoop.
Else a moulded fibreglass unit that looks similar to the BA falcon XR bonnets.

Stuffing round with cutting rocker covers, sumps, rods, is all too hard and expensive.

Just keep in mind that as soon as you cut the support bracing from the 1k bonnet they fall apart. Hec as soon as the cross bracing comes away from the bonnet it starts to become flimsy.

Didnt my suggestions make you question your intentions yet Chris :P
Seriously you cant beat a retro looking setup. Otherwise....

Ill add another option, find another B10 then how about a short
Metal fabrication night course with your b10 as the guinea pig? :)

Then how the Craziest A series setup layout ever using factory ported head.
Box framed rear mounted A14 with 81mm sleeved bores (or bigger by Lemonhead)
using pulsar n10 5 speed FWD equal length driveshaft box driving the rear wheels
then the skys the limit!!.

Look at the N10 pics from Wombat Racing the Dude in the Muff shaped Oz state.

i looked at grafting a 120y bonnet onto a 1200 one- keeps it sort of stock looking but for me a pita.

you could mod a 1000 bonnet with the skinn of another bonnet to raise the center section, would look better than a bonnet scoop or bulge.

unfamila, your right there, but it still needs to be larger than the standard profile, so its going to be a mission to make it look "stockish" and still fit it in.

The 1200 GX style bonnet with that raised section, just a little wider and taller would be the go i reckon.

Easy as pie fellas!!!
if he goes this way as he best keep the bulge in his pants
as it wouldnt suit a granny style b10.

Simple solution! is to simply raise the bonnet
from the rear using simple brackets to the original hinges.
This will lift the bonnet like VW rear bonnets do for cooling.
Totally reversible if he goes back to stock by removing brackets.
You will be able to keep it cooler and view part of whats in the
engine bay while you are driving :)))

also could let water in, also looks out of place- just get another bonnet- chris finds spare 1k parts all the time (so may have a couple already) and that way is revesible when he inevitably changes carbs again anyway lol
