This is the steering wheel position when straight




How to i take it off? I tried to pull off the metal badge in the middle, but im a little worried its going to break ... does it just pop off?

Also make sure the tierods are equal length on both sides because if one is short and the other long it will do the same thing..

The 'D' Centerpiece/centrecap comes off, there is a very small slit in the side where it meets the rest of the garnish, slip a small flat screwdriver in there and pop off the centre cap. Then I think you press and rotate the wing emblem and then unscrew the nut to remove the wheel.

Use a block of soft timber and a hammer and tap the back of the steering wheel (only once the nut has been unscrewed, but keep it on the end of the thread so that the wheel doesn;t come off and smack you in the face as you're trying to pull it off) to gently remove the wheel off the column. Be careful with it, and be sure that it doesn't damage the plastic on the back of the wheel.

I think that's the procedure, pop the cap off anyway and lets have a look.... my memory is vague..

dont do an unfam trick and take the nut all the way off then puul hard cos it hurts when it hits you

so leave the nut on a few threads

Why not use a steering wheel puller instead of a hammer?

i can tell u fellas r talking from experience ... Im sure that would make it on funniest home videos ... Ill give it a go tomorrow and let u know how i go ...

id make sure that the toe's were setup right and your lock to lock is right then find the center and straighten or take it to get a wheel allignement and get them to do swings they will understand

Don;t go spending more money on a tool for the one off job. Just use what you have available and tap sharp and carefully, if you are mega paranoid then wrap the timber block or wheel spoke with a cloth.

undo the steering wheel nut, leaving it on about 2 turns.

do NOT remove the nut completely at this stage, I have seen someone break their nose by taking the nut all the way off.

move the seat all the way back,
with the wheel held on by a couple of threads, grab it at 9 and 3 o'clock,
now lift your weight out of the seat while firmly holding the wheel and your feet either side of where the steering column comes through the firewall,
alternatively rack your hands back and forth until the steering wheel comes loose on the splines and is being held by the nut,
remove the nut and the steering wheel.
