Maybe one of you Aussies can answer: how are these regulations enforced? Do you have mandatory smog/equipment inspections? Or are there random (surprise) road blocks? And, I guess, Aussie inspectors aren't liable to overlook a simple matter of engine type or displacement, meaning they always carry a technical guidebook for old Datsuns in their back pocket?

DONT BE A GIRL. CERTIFICATION WASTES MONEY BETTER SPENT ON RADICAL ENGINE MODS . JUST GRIND OFF THE BIT WHERE IT SAYS A15. THEN RESTAMP IT WITH A12. WHOS GONNA KNOW? UNLESS YOU MEASURE THEM WITH A TAPE (AND KNOW THE DIFFERENCE) THE MOTORS LOOK THE SAME. I KNOW WHAT ID DO.

in most states ( except queensland so I ve been told) we have yearly registration checks
which the car has to pass. This is easy if your car is good or if you know the mechanic, there are also many mechanics that will just say ( if anyone asks that wasnt like that when you saw me)
Also if you get pulled over for doing something wrong, they will sometimes check the car over.

Ultimately its easy to pass a shonky car and drive it around, but if you crash chances are your insurance company wil not cover you.
