hey all, lately when i have been taking off in my car(mitsubishi magna(sorry hand me down) i have been hearing a clunk that sounds like it has been coming from the front left shock/wheel.
i have a sneaking suspicion that i might be the shockies or something as it has been bottoming out to danm easy. its an 89 so its getting on in years and has been hammered lately (since i
got it). i actually am not worried as soon i am giving it back to my olds and getting my dads nissan urvan (beautiful style) so soon i will becoming home sorry this is soo long but i kinda
need to know cheers and soon i will have a datto again
later numbnuts

Sounds like the Cv joints, do they chatter going round corners?

Do the shock absorber test on both sides..
Push down on the guard and see how many times it bounces. If the side you mention is extra bouncy, then it's probably a shock absorber, and if you don't have the tools, you'll need
to take it down the local suspension and/or tyre place. Get under there and have a look, maybe the swaybar has broken off (typical mitsubishi) and/or something is bent from a bit of
bush bashing.

It could also be a clunky balljoint, jack up the tire (like you are going to change the wheel) and give the tyre a shake around, forwards/backwards/in/out.

Chris.

Yeah it sounds like CV Joints. They clunk or knock when you take off and go over bumps around corners etc. My mum recently got both hers replaced by a very reputable mechanics
place ('88 Ford Telstar) for under $300. Not bad at all,
good one mum.
