Curious.... im not after a full on street monster but, WOULD it be possible to make a adaptor to fit a turbo of the end of the stock exhaust manifold ?

Has anyone else thought of this before ?

I havent tried it yet but i belive it can be done. Dependingon turbo size it could flange straight on. It would be easyer on an
early type 1200 because the mount is further forward giving more clearence

it's not uncommon. Just a right angle or 'J' pipe off the bottom of the cast iron exh manifold to the turbo. but keep it as short as possible, and it would be a good idea to make up a bracket to help support the weight.

The turbo setup that i have uses a stock exhaust manifold off a A15(sunny i think) without a hot box(pollution gear)a peice of pipe between 2 flanges, the top flange is where the turbo bolts on,pretty easy really!
i'm not going to use that, instead as L18 B110 pointed out i'm going to make a "J-pipe" i would assume that a j-pipe woud be better.
Are you doing or thinking about a turbo setup?

ahhh

i've had those pics for ages and i've finally just figured out whats going on with the inlet.

there is a flange bolted to the stock inlet, it has a pipe standind vertically up on it which would have a hose connected to it on a "suck-through" setup

i dont think this is really that bad-a-design, quite simple, not much fabrication required

and as i found making my manifold there is always gonna be sharp turns in any exhaust system unless you get super fancy, and then you just run out of room anyway

The boys are on to it.
The exhaust of a A15 with a 'j' made out of plumers steam pipe bends works very well and does'nt require any bracing as it is inherently very strong, similar to what 1200 rc has posted, a bit shorter. All flanges can then be profile cut from a decent thickness plate steel and mig welded to the steam pipe.

heres a picture of mine
thats a good idea using the standard inlet manifold instead of using a plenum(i think thats what its called)
i might look into that
