I know Ive asked this b4 but when replacing the front suspension in my coupe with stanza struts do I need to replace the tie rod and steering linkage components or can I use the original
ones. Also I was told that the radius rod may need more thread put on it, if so then how much. Plus I know I will need to cut a few coils out of the springs, is this very easy or should
I take it into a suspesion place?
Any info on this stuff would be great, thanks.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

Hope your strut conversion is almost there.
The only steering component you will need off the Stanza is the arm which is bolted to the bottom of the strut - this should come with the strut anyway! The 1200 tie rods bolt
straight on.

Well cutting coils off springs is an easy job if you have the right equipment. You will need a manual spring compressor - if you don't have one, take them to a suspension place - they
will have a mechanical one which will take 2secs.
Use an angle grinder or hacksaw to cut about 2 coils off. You might want to get new srut inserts too.

Get about 2 inches more thread on your castor rods- that will give you about the right amount and the option of getting a little bit more castor if you want.

I have put stanza struts in my 1200 ute and you don't have to put more thread on the castor rods you can just use 120y castor rods and they are even reversible. Also try
and get the australian stanza struts with the bigger calipers.

Machine 15mm along the threaded section on your 1200 castor rods the same diameter as your thread, you don't need to cut more thread. This will give you approx 4 degrees of castor
which is all you need. I assume the 2 inch figure given was the overall length of thread ?

Yes the 2inch figure was for the total length of thread on the castor rods.
I did try 120y castor rods, but they didn't seem to fit very well- the bolt holes on the strut end were too small for the bolts
of the stanza strut.
I thought drilling them out would have reduced their strength.

From memory they are about 1980ish(square headlights I think). They are identifiable by the large pad Girlock calipers(similar to Commodore) as opposed to the Sumitomo(or
whatever they are that have pads not much different to the 1200 pads.
Hope this helps

No worries.

I'll get a hold of a pair. Are they the same or similar to 180B struts in stub axle size and the bolt
spacing of the calipers?

Justin, the Stanza, 180b, 200b and c210 skyline struts all have the same stub axle and caliper bolt spacing. Could be a few others the same but these one i
know are the same.

Nice, so what bolts onto 180B, 200B, will bolt onto stanza. Nice
