Yes, A15 flyweel is the same size as A12, and A15 cover plates bolt right in.

The some guys redrill the A12 flywheel to fit a 200mm cover from a 1600...and a Nissan Pulsar EXA 18-tooth 200mm disc for E15ET

hmm this sounds good then.

Yeah I reckon an organic plate would be best suited to me - street use with the odd thrashing. Heck to stock clutch is ok on 15 pounds but at 17psi onwards it slips. However, the better clamping I get the longer it should last to avoid those intermitant slips from abuse.

Does pitroad ship easily to australia? Maybe a HD organic for a A15 vanette is all I need - I'll see if exedy do one in that flavour lol.

Speaking of the clutch...

When I replace it my plan was to do somthing with rattly 56 series 4 speed I have.

I want a 5 speed and I think the 60 series is strong enough for 2X mildly worked A12 torque? Is it not?

If not, what are the chances of getting a A sereis bellhoused 63 series 5 speed in australia? Ziltch, zip, nada?

Also I have an Aluminium TIG and a lathe/mill (pretty much a machine shop at home) I can weld the a series bell housing to antoher gear box if needed - what gearboxes would fit the manual B310 tunnel and have the shifter in the right spot?

Are 63 series non A12/14/15 gearboxes common - perhaps my best best is to weld my A12 housing to one of those?

Argh so many questions and I dont know the answer to any!

I would use the 60-series transmission.

63-series for A-engine only came in B210 with A14 engine (japan or usa).

63-series for L-engine is same length from 1977-1979 S10 and 1978-1979 A10 option.

Yeah thats what I was leaning towards - allthough the 63 series would be stronger and bullet proof in my situation, it probally isnt for all the effort of spinning just for that "extra" reliability.

What if I weld a T50 to my current bellhousing? Isnt that a better gearbox than the 60 series?

Lastly, on the exedy site they supply the same clutch part number for a12 powered cars and a14 powered cars yet it is still classed as heavy duty on a A14 - so I'm thinking that if its HD on an a14 it's plenty good on an a12. However, I've emailed them to ask about how much kgf is the clamping force.

just get the a15 vannette one, its the largest clamping force from when i asked about one for another 1200

I agree with pigdog, ive never had a problem with them in rally car or boosted a-series

should get the whole lot for under $150
machining the flywheel to flat will give it the best chance also

if you want a better 5-speed go the T50, also use in my rallycar and boosted a-series. they are great for it, Dellow make a bellhousing to vbolt it up, if you have the spare time you could prob save some money. A 63 series 5 speed is the other option, they are obtainable if your willing to pay the $1200 bux asking price, this will also get you a dellow kit and celica box installed though and the replacement boxes are $150-250 after that

button clutch is poo, had one in street car for 6 months and i still stalled it occasionaly, should be able to get that for under 300 if you really want. mine was spring centre but still hated it... other thing is with button clutch it gives you no slip... i hated that, meant you had little control of downshifts and particularly compression lock ups when hooking it into corners. but also at that time the car wasn't boosted but i can imagine they would suck for boosted launches... its good to slip the clutch a bit on a hard launch to build up the boost, so when you dump the clutch you dont eat bags of lag

i know it might sound silly but is the clutch cable adjusted too tight ? ,maybe loosen it off and reset it ,would suck to put a new clutchi nfor no reason

hhmmm the exa/1600 clutch sounds pretty good !

1200RC i reakon i stalled my brothers corolla that had a super heavy duty pressure plate and organic disc more than i ever did with the solid button behind the L series or the cushioned one behind the CA

managed to slip the clutch plenty when i took the 1200 to calder, was launching it at about 5000rpm without jumping off the clutch pedal

not saying they are easy to use compared to a standard organic clutch kit. but i think the clutch plate itseld has little to do with how they are to drive and alot more to do with the clamping force and how quick it is applied
