Hello,

I was wondering if anybody makes reproduction body tags? The one with the ID numbers and paint code etc on the drivers side on Aust. 1200 utes?


Mine is faded, there is nothing legible on it, only barely perceptible stampings. The screws have torn the tag corners off and it is frankly beyond repair or any use.

I know a repro tag may sound dodgey but I would like my ute to look complete once I finish restoring it.

Anybody know if any have been made?

if not I may make some up, if there is enough interest... but first I need a good template.

There was a guy doing them on ebay a while back but I've not seem them for a while now. There are usually 2 tags on utes anyway the one your talking about and the one on passenger side. Which should also match the numbers stamped in the scuttle panel which you will have to change anyway since i sold you a sedan scuttle panel.

I've seen reproduction ones for 1600's with SR20DET in the engine type section

They make them for the roadster but maybe be able to to change type?

Bprojects sells the genuine Nissan plates.

But how to get the left-side plate? Some guys need more ADR numbers.

Yep I've got the passenger side plate, the reason I noticed was because I was looking at the one you sold me and then started thinking about changing them to match properly.

can anybody tell me where I can find my VIN number on the body? I think previous owner bogged over it..

Racer, Yeah Im sure somebody has got repro tags, will keep looking on ebay as Andy suggested.

SRB and ddgonzal, will check it out.. don't want to re-invent the wheel.

Datsuns didn't use a VIN (standard Vehicle Identification Number) until 1980. Earlier Datsuns have a Car Number.

Car Number is stamped into the sheet metal here on 1200s:
