Wow, imagine how thin the panels will be now!
They're building these models for emerging markets (ie povvos) so I wonder what sort of build quality we can expect to see!
Be awesome to get some new age Datsun badges though, then we can look like Commodores with Chev badges!

Wow be good to see what they look like and the quality, you think they're re-releasing old models or totally new?

I just hope they dont change the shape and keep the a and l series motors

If they make a ute identical to the old ones ,it would be awesome ,not bakkies ,there not real 1200s

True? It's not a promise, it's only that Nissan is considering it. So when they make the cheap cars and if they fail, it won't reflect badly on the good name of Nissan and all it stands for. The danger here is a market failure of these poverty-pack fwd cars will reduce the value of our classics.

Not counting that Nissan continued to use the Datsun name on the light truck sold in Japan. But that was a proven product.

i was also thinking along dd's lines: cheap and nasty = loss of value associated with name.

Look at Tata in India. They make crap cars, now they own Jaguar! Could be method in the madness. Ford (Australia) rehashed the old Fiesta (put turban room in them like the Bakkie) and they're selling quicker than they can make them.
If Nissan/Datsun is done right it could be awesome for the brand.
What seems like rubbish to us is not relative to the market they're actually sold in. It's the market they're sold in that dictates the reputation, not our misguided perception based on the high cost, high quality cars we deal with.
