Hi Guys...

I realise that the Heading for this post may appear a little ambiguous, but I've read the countless number of posts from people asking what are the best jet sizes to use in a DGV fitted to an A series.

Now I am the FIRST to admit that factors vary between individual engines and that no two motors are EXACTLY the same, but I figure that posting these sizes will at least be a step in the right direction (If one person is helped out by this post then hasn't it done it's job?).

I've just had the carb rejetted and dyno'ed. These new jet settings are on my standard A12 and I've been informed they will also work fine on my 40 thou O/bore A14 currently being built (with std cam). Such is the versatility of the DGV I guess...

Anyway, I hope this helps some people out:

Primary mentioned first, then Sec...

Air Correction: 175/145
Fuel: 120/145
Emulsion Tube: F66/F66
Choke Tube: 3.5/4.5
Idle: 50/55

Have Fun Guys...

Anton.

That should be much better than what my 32/36 has. It ran fairly well on the A12 and A15, except for off-idle performance. I think it is too rich.

Main jets: 132-partially blocked with very thin wire/135
Air bleeds: 150/180
Side jets/bleeds: 90/80 (80 has two holes-one side I blocked with wire)

Iv'e set mine up with these specs and it runs fine.............Except at low speed.
Under high load it is ok but part throttle such as 60 ks in top it hesitates quite noticebly.
Could this be my idle jets???
Iv'e been friging with this carb with ages trying to get a good setup and i'm close apart from the hesitation.......
Any ideas or help would be great!!!
(i dont have the time or money for a dyno run unfortunately)

I had the same hassle initially and it turned out to be nothing but a batch of bad fuel...
I did nothing and it all came good... If anything, I'd perhaps take the main fuel jet up to 125 ish... but that's a guess...

I dont think it could be fuel as the change was made at half full tank..
I will try an increase in the primary...
Just a question though to improve my understanding of how things work, how come it is ok under load or at highway speed but at low speed it may need more fuel (bigger primary).Would the secondary be partly open at higher speeds supply enough fuel???????

not sure, Force... my sizes were only the evidence of what was best on the dyno.

As for the 60km/h surging, mine went away after a fuel change and a bit of a clean out so I won't hold the jets at fault.

Ultimately the best solution is to put your car on the rollers and get it dynoe'd

I took my 32/36 to the webber specialist the other day and he seemed to say that for an A12 the fuel jets should be 125/130 (prim/sec).

Just my 2c

Like I said at the start, an ambiguous topic. The setting I posted earlier were shown o be the best for my engine so should provide a good starting point...

But each motor is different, even 2 stock A12's side by side so the best thing it to get a dyno test.

I agree with you that no two engines are the same.
The original point of the post has succeded in that i have a good working base to start from.
It makes it so much easier when others are willing to post details.
Much appreciated...
