Hey guys,

I think the f20c from the honda s2000 would be a good choice if plans for project is an all out Naturally aspirated motor and after not a too common conversion and if you don't mind using a non nissan engine. It comes factory with 240bhp and are costing around 5k for engine, ecu, wiring loom and 6speed gearbox package with clutch .As mentioned by D, they are heavy but into a 1200 datsun would be amazingly fast.

A dead stock Naturally aspirated Honda S2000 despite weighing heavier, has a quicker 0-60mph times and quicker quarter mile time than a dead stock turbo Ca18det s13/180sx silvia. And would come down to the drivers against a dead stock turbo Sr20det s13/180sx. Take of the turbos from the sr/ca and its a different story. In other words, can't compare an f20c to sr20de or ca18de.Best bang for buck if intending to keep the car and leave it NA in oz due to the 2.0liter non turbo limitation.

To build a non turbo sr20de/ca18de to f20c standards would cost alot just to compare to a dead stock f20c engine.so 5k for f20c engine/gearbox package would actually work out to be more cheaper, reliable, drivable than say 240bhp heavily worked sr20de.

Can only imagine the power to weight ratio of a modified f20c in a datsun 1200.

I'd rather 2zzge from celica/corolla sportivo but fwd- plus they are timing chain which I prefer over belts any day. (only cause I had o e and they rev so nicely then 6k it's on! Til 8200rpm)

The f20c sounds great on the cam too. Have to be careful with them as too large an exhaust and they loose drivability down low until vtec kicks in.

unfamilia,

the 2zzge would be a really good setup esp if supercharged like in the lotus and in a light chasis car such as the 1200 dattos.Do you know if there any mods in the oz market to adapt them to rwd ? i have Read about complaints from customers in regards to engine damage when aggressively downshifting but i wouldn't have a clue on that issue.

And anyone with any info or dealings/experience on fiats/lancia 16v engines? the race spec engines apparently have 250-270hp and can rev to 10,000rpm.

some links on youtube,
Fiat 16v 275bhp na race motor

Fiat 1.8 16v oltre 250hp @ 10.000rpm Gulli Motori

Yeah there were some issues if you down shifted at high rpm, mainly happened with people that tuned them to lift the top rpm. As they are yamaha head, some modded them for 10000 tpm easily. 1 guy did to 11000rpm but he had an issue down shifting from memory.

Haven't seen any red conversions but the mrs guys love them for mid rear conversions from their 1zz

The A/ option is actually what you are talking about. From a DD weber to twin sidie's. No option is standard. As mild engines come in so many variants there is no point trying to make 10 different types of mild combinations as it gets confusing. The point is, make a plan or list of things that YOU expect from the vehicle. And stick to it. Be it mild or wild.

Theres a few supercharged VW using toyota SCs.
One (factory 36hp ate) 1200cc vw made 100hpate
with single weber DCOE40 on a 4agze supercharger.
Plumbing is an issue but most should agree that
a well tuned reasonably stock a12 with low boost
is better and cheaper than an NA full race pig.

what freaks me is the simplicity of pushrod engines
like the A series that can make 160hpatw like Simon
has done with mainly stock with well engineered or
sorted adders with good tuning.
