I finally got some rubber on the wheels. Some Federal 175/65R13 did the trick. They are only 6mm larger in diameter than the 12's. It's as if these rims were made fot the thou. I managed to drum up some camber shims from the spare car and a spare box of stuff I found and gave it a couple of degrees camber and a bit of caster too. i took it for a drive and she drives much better.

Unfortunately the mags need a special tapered 2 piece wheel nut so I got on the lathe at work and made some washers to use with standard shank mag wheel nuts. It worked out well in the end but I think I'll save for the right nuts but the cost over $200. It's funny, when I asked the boss if he'd mind if I used some crap he said use whatever you want. I still used offcuts but of S155. A very expensive steel.

Special washers I made.

I'm not sold on guard mirrors D, They are constantly in the way when working on the car. When Chris's was in the shed and I was having a fidget they were a total pain in the arse.

On a plus note, my new (second hand) engine arrived today, all the way from sunny QLD and is ripe for putting in imediately. I'm not sure if it is a genuine GX engine but it is a front dizzy A12 with a proper GX top end. Not the later A12T stuff but the ridgey didge stuff. Also noticed it has a lightened flywheel and s reasonably new clutch too. Sweet. I'll put up some pics when I start work. Hopefully I'll be having the new exhaust fitted by Thursday. Road testing for the next week!!

Yeah know what you mean about guard mirrors, they look good
but do get in the way abit.
GX motor well done, you will see a big difference.
Has twin sus I gather and twin outlet mani?
The gx motor come alive in the upper rpm range so
a 3.9 diff ratio is as low as I would go but 4.11
respond much better to it.

Also is you go to pickapart there is a 1000 atm with
steelies inside it and you can have my hubcaps if you like
as I gave the new owner some original kb10 ones instead.

curious what's special about the wheel nut? looks like any tapered nut but smaller socket size, which you can get in a one piece
