HI Guys

I am interested in the CA18DE Engine.There is a interesting picture of one in the engine pics section,Iwould like to know more about the throttle bodys/Manifold used in this particular setup.

If anyone has had a go at building A CA18de for Sreet/circuit please let me know.

I posted that photo. I took it 5 or 6 years ago. I don't expect it's still available. Injection Perfection are the people to see, but it may have been a japanese import part. The photo was taken at the 1998 4 cylinder Nats in Canberra. Use the fuel injection that's on the engine. There's only minimal gains from putting on such an expensive aftermarket option. Just get some head work done, and get a good tuned exhaust.

Thanks for that,I was also tossing up the idea of using carbs(45 DCOE or 48 DCO)depending on what sort of power u can ring out of these engines,do you think this would be a good move?standard efi would be more efficient & cheaper but im a sucker for good old fashioned induction roar

Steve Newwing at speed technology SPEED TECHNOLOGY has built a very tough CA18de it makes 228hp @ 8200rpm. He has done heaps of work to it custom cams bigger valves ect ect big $$$ I honestly think you could get around the 190-200hp without spending a fortune. He did some work to my ca18det with good improvements around 350hp @15psi and close to 400hp 20psi.

Thanks Andrew sounds like a good place to start, I'd be quite happy with 200hp, then again figuires like 350-400hp have a way of changing peoples minds.

I HAVE A DATSUN 1200 SEDAN WITH A CA18DE WHICH PUMPS OUT 230BHP I AM CURRENTLY RUNNING TWIN 48DCO,IHAVE SPENT ALOT OF TIME AND MONEY ON MY CARBURATION I GOT THIS PAIR FROM ITALY .I THINK THERE IS LIMITATIONS WITH MY CARBS IN REGARDS TO POWER.IAM CONCIDERIN INJECTION WITH A QUAD THROTTLE BODY SETUP FOR ADDED PERFORMANCE.i HAVE ALSO MODIFIED THE REAR OF THE BEAST WHICH NOW HOLDS iIRS FOR ADDED PERFORMANCE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TRACTION.



ALL MY WORK WAS CARRIED OUT BY ED BRODY IN SYDNNEY AWSOME WORK A TRUE PERFECTIONIST.

I have never heard of IRS on a 1200, how can this be done? sounds expensive.

This sounds pretty good getting 230 hp from 1.8 litres on carbs. Who's dyno was it tested on? Could you show the dyno sheet in the pictures section! Why would quad T/B injection make any more power than the 48's?

What type of IRS did you fit or fabricate your own system? Again, show us some pics please!

I have a CA18DE in my ute, and have no trouble keeping up with most things on the road in my class.
In my research for more power i read somwhere that fitting the cams from the CA16DE engine has some advantages, and i think it is reasonably cheap if you can find the cams, i believe that the CA16 had 247 degrees of lift in comparison to the CA18DE's 242 degrees of lift. i think this is also a common application for the CA18DET engine.

I would aslo like alittle more power from my car so any other tips greatly appreciated
