So... Been meaning to bring this up for a while now.
A lot of talk is about filling the guards with as big a rim/tyre
Combo as possible.... But.... Is there a level if old school
Cool in running 12" rims? (I'm talking diameter here too,
not width). I understand wider tyres more grip blah blah but just
talking cool. People's thoughts?

13 or 14 are a good size, 15's max on a 1200. more looks like a 4x4, im yet to see anything biger than 15 inch that looks decent.
shoota77 came close with his 17s but it still puts the car up too high even if slmammed on suspension.

i like 13;s and even all my brake upgrades i make a rule to keep under 13;s - can still get decent tyre sizes too. 165 65 13 easy enough or even 185 60 13 are decent on a 6 or 7 inch rim.

Skinny wheels are no good. 12" wheels are the best. Fat 12" tires. They never rub, handle well, look great.

I'm with unfamilia - 13s or 14s look best on a 1200. 15" absolute max.

12" limits you to 5" wide wheels for that sunken look and tiny little tyres with no sort of performance tyre availability at all = crap handling. Maybe that's different in the states, but the only performance stuff available in 12" is for minis that are far to small in diametre to suit a 1200.

15's are king, so many tyres to choose from.

these are dodgy TRX rims but there is so many nice dished 15's out there plus you can tuck a little rim if your low enough.

I'd go with low profile 15s, same diameter as common 13" tires -- if I wasn't using 12s.

In Australia 175/70R12 available as of November 2011. I use Yokohama A048R street-legal race tyres. Zero offset wheels are flush with the bodywork on a 1200.
