On the suspension, what you see in the pictures is the stock stuff, but I have prepped and installed 310 front suspension and brakes.

I've been on here so much that I forgot my car is left hand drive.

I went in yesterday and got the engine bay and under car painted in POR-15 rust encapsulating paint to keep the car from having a future rust problem. I get to scuff the engine bay and finally lay color down tomorrow!!!! Pics to come for sure!

I might have to take some time from the project to get my Datsun 720 back on the road again. I put a KA24E in it about a year ago and the valves never have seated right and I think I dropped a valve this afternoon. No smoke, no loss in oil pressure and no scuffing in the cylinder walls, but a definite loss of compression in one of the cylinders.

Finally made some progress on the car. I got all of the suspension painted, then went ahead and got the engine bay painted. The funny part is that during the painting process I kept laying down the basecoat and it just didn't seem to look as good as I wanted. After a couple coats I was satisfied, but the color just wasn't right. After I rolled the car out into the light, I was shocked at how well it looked. Here are some pictures

So now with the engine bay and under the car painted, And since everything was mocked up prior, I can now begin the assembly of the car. YAY ME!!!!

After tonight, there's not one reason to stop until I'm done. I got busy putting the suspension in and decided to go ahead and install the motor and transmission too. I never did get the suspension fully installed, but I sure did get the motor and trans in. I'm so glad I got that all together before I painted. So glad everything got mocked up and fabbed in before. It all went back together like a glove. Now I can finish the suspension bits, and plumb the thing in.

It is a bit tight to the firewall, but there is sufficient clearance all the way around. Exhaust nearly doesn't clear the steering box though.

Wonder how many coupes in the US have CA motors in them? Seems to be more prevalent in the down under. Well, thanks you guys for all the help (the Tech Wiki is awesome) I couldn't have done it without you guys!

Would look good, but I think you'll all think it was wise to not take the green into everything when I'm done. Sometimes the car color can go too far and detract from the theme. (Plus I'm lazy and don't want to take the covers off)

So ran into a small problem here and wonder what I should do. I'm running 15x7 wheels with 0 offset and 195/50R15 tires all the way around. Already planned on flaring the fenders and rear to make it all fit. Truth be told, the front fenders were mangled a bit to begin with, so don' feel bad about cutting and welding on the bits I need to get it right. PLus the rear is in need of help, so flaring the back as well.

The problem is that the wheel scrubs a little on the footwell. I anticipated this, but not to this extent. I have the fenders off and could cut the floor section and push it back, but I want an opinion before I start in. I won't really be moving more than about 10-15cm to gain the clearince I need. It really is only the corner of the footwell so I don't think this is a big deal, but there are other options I suppose.
