Hi guys this is not 1200 related but I want to know how important the divider is in a factory cast iron sr20 turbo manifold. I'm upgrading the turbo in a pulsar Gtir and have found a hair line crack in the divider. I don't want to put it back in because I'm afraid in may come off and damage the turbo. I'm thinking I can cut it out. Has any one done this before.

It's hard to see but it's cracked to the left and right where the divider is cut down the middle ( cracks start where the cut stops)

Not sure what a twin pulse manifold is. I just put a link up of the manifold. I went to a gt2871r with Gtir high flowed comp cover so everything will fit neatly like factory

I thought that's what u ment. No the turbine housing is just open like any other Garrett t25/t28 turbo. My idea is to cut it out just to cracked part not a quick job by the look of it

tell you the truth never looked down a standard sr manifold lol but it's the same on my sil go figure so turbine housing is not relevant, i dont think it will break i've never heard of that happening and you'd have to be unlucky. the time your gonna waste grinding that out you might as well buy another standard manifold (50 bucks) or get an after market one, as for it being relevant im not 100 percent sure but it's gonna be a biarch to get out

I'm with lethaljohn. If you might have to pay someone else to fix it, it would be cheaper to pay $50-$150 for another stock manifold. Especially if you are putting a nice shiny turbo behind it.

I've never heard of these failing either.. So you'd have to be pretty unlucky for the crack to progress to a chunk falling off.

Iv spent about 4 hours making the ports smooth and cleaning the sharp edges on that manifold, going to try cut it out with a small air grinder if it don't work I'll bin it and get another and hopefully it won't be cracked in the same spot. I'm going to stay away from cheap stainless steel manifolds. Not planing on doing this job again! Anyone that has worked on a pulsar Gtir would know what I'm talking about

Louix the yellow coupe has been pushed outside now, it kills me to see it sitting out there. After 2 hours of carefully cutting with air hack saw and air grinder I managed to get it out. Now it just needs a clean up. The big question is it going to work better or worse, looks less restrictive but will flow be interrupted due to half the devider missing?
