Actually they smell like nothing. If anyone who sn't a computer noob can make that pic work, please feel free. I had to get help to get that pic from the camera onto the computer. And it worked when I uploaded it to the hosting site. (I gave up trying to get it to upload here, too big or something?)

Well fast forward to today.
After completely forgetting how the hell all the bits went together, (Thanks for the workshop manual Don) I finally got my gearbox back together! I held it in the vise by the sump bung, and it does everything it should. With a bit of luck I'll get it back in this weekend. It's only going to be 9 degrees tommorrow. But the sun is supposed to shine. Perfect weather for lying on my back in the driveway with a weighty gearbox on my chest.
Since short 63's are so rare here, I think I may get another L4 box, and use the gizzards to rebirth the scattered remants of my 1st 63A. Then do a bellhousing cut and shut.

Thanks Chris.
Which one of those gearboxes would you rather side step the clutch at 6000rpms with? If it wasn't for my 63a, I reckon I would've lunched every 4 speed in the country by now. lol

I wasn't sure what we were looking at. This is the main shaft of the box..
The right one could handle 3 times the abuse!

Looks like 56 on the left and 71 on the right?

56 4spd on the left, and 63a 5spd on the right.
The 56's are okay for what they were orignally intended to do I guess. You can still see the remains of the bearing race on the 56 countershaft. That bearing collapsed in that particular gearbox. (It had been howling like a banshee for some months) I aquired that gearbox for parts for a dozen Speights. And used some of it's gizzards to fix another 56.
