so, good news and bad news.

drove the car home the other night, the difference is amazing, keeping in mind its like ive also put new shocks in, softer springs and all new bushes.

but it takes bumps so much better now and hooks up through corners really really well

bad news, already bent the adjusters in the main arms....really bent them. straightened one out but the other broke
so i have new adjusters on their way

but looks like i'll be redesigning the arms
main things will be flipping the arms around so that the adjusters are at the diff end, which will make adjustement a little more annoying as it will change the pinion angle at the same time.
but this will lead to much less bending force on the adjusters. they will also be moved as close to the bush as possible adn the arms lengthened so that less thread is exposed
the top arm mounting point on the bottom arm will also be moved forward 70mm, so that it is further away from the adjuster and the arms are on less of an agnle to each other

means pretty much remaking both arms....but should mean that they dont bent straight away again

Sounds like it hits your senses with raw pulsating excitement rather than the lack of feel sealed noiseless environments experienced in modern sports cars. Cant wait to see this thing in the flesh.

more chrmomoly ordered....payed $80 for only $20 of tube that i need, turns out i had enough to make the top arms again and im paying more for postage than the actual tube to get it here quick
but i guess thats what you get when you dont design stuff properly in the first place, or assume that things will be strong enough

so the new longer top arms are made, and the short section of the bottom arms have been shortened as much as they can. also the bush hosueing and tube end have been removed from the longer section of the bottom arms
just gotta wait for the new tube to turn up, fingers crossed it gets here tomorrow morning so i can make the arms tomorrow. then i just have to wait for the new adjusters to turn up and i should be back in business

also should get onto making the new new fuel tank, hopefully being almost twice as thick sheet should be better

looking through this project build reminds me of the work i put into my wagon. Youve done a great job! Alot of hard work goes into restoring a car. Mines waiting on its wheels and then may have to sell it unfortunatly. Top work with yours though!

Well it still on jack stands waiting for the new adjusters to turn up. Think its almost been off the road longer waiting for these than it was when i changed to the coils

its really annoying coz it drove so damn nicely. So i got a 20min teaser and now just have to wait

new bend free adjusters showed up today, so the car should be driving again tomorrow

also got my r32 box, so will swap the bellhousing on that later today and make sure it all looks good inside then possibly put that in tomorrow

so its all driving again, has much more diff noise than it did before the coils went in, i assume its something to do with the arms bending and the diff running a massive pinion angle as a result, chewed out one of the unis also in the half hour of driving
so i need to fix that as it get annoying to drive over 80kph with the noise

also has a vibration that im pretty sure wasnt there before, will see if the pinion bearings fix that, otherwise i'll have to get on to building a proper tailshaft as the one in there at the moment isnt balanced, not that it was a problem before the coil conversion

maybe something to do with the coilovers having solid mounts(sphericals) and more vibrations being transmitted into the body so its more noticable now, or the change in pinion angle, so the pinion and diff are parallel, might possibly have something to do with it
cant really think of anything else thats changed

So now i need to find a suitable tailshaft, think one from an xc falcon was the right one, needs the big unis (like vn commodore ones) and to be solid. then i can order a nissan yoke to suit, get it shortened and never have to worry about the tailshaft again....unless i decide to change the diff
