Yesterday I had some time from house stuff and snuck into the garage for a bit.
I got the crossmember modified so the KA oil pan will fit. I didnt cut the sway bar yet. I want the motor in there first to see exactly where it will be.
To make the crossmember, I took to 14 inch long 90 degree angle pieces of steel and welded them into a "C" channel. Centered it and clamped it to the bottom of the crossmember and welded two short 4 inch pieces to each end.I welded a flat piece of steel to the bottome center of the channel so I would have a place to support a floor jack. On top, I cut out the top half of the crossmember and finished with some angles at each end. I cleaned and grinded but still had a little bit of oil ans crap left over so my welds are a little messy. I have never clammed to be an expert welder.

The holes you see out front are attachments for chaining down the motor. I started chaining my motor down a few years ago after I torqued it to hard and ripped a rubber motor mount.
I have a spare engine block and head so Im going to put it in as a mock up. to build the engine mounts and check for exhaust clearence.
After all that, its repainting the engine compartment and simplize all my electrical wiring. Over the years after adding more components, I added more wire runs. Im going to try and clean it all up.
I hope to soon cut into the KA intake and rebuild the Holley 600 carb.
