I just put some 1200 ute seats in my 1000 ute. Much more comfortable having a head rest. They sit a bit lower than the original 1000 seats which is good as I dont need to duck to see the speedo through the sports stearing wheel now.
I needed to cut some mild steel lengths to adapt the extra width of the seats to the rails but it's in now :)
Only thing is the drivers seat is further to the rhs which means my arm is closer to the door.
If anyone wants the old seats both seats need revamping but you're welcome to them.

have you got any other pics of your 1000 ute??? what engine are you running?? Nice avatar, thats what they are built for i'll probly put 1200 seats in my wagon as the 1000 seats are a bit uncomfortable and small, but i want to keep a fairly original look

I'll post some more pics tomorrow - they're on my email at work.
The dato has a A12 in it
I have a few kits from jaycar to go in this long w/e - electronics ignition and a digital tacho, then after running the ignition kit in (required) I have a programmable ignition kit to add to it that will control advance. The digital speedo kit looks good too as mine reads in MPH (unless anyone has a 1000 kph dash they dont want! - damn imperial measurements!)
Hmm I wonder if anyone in Perth is interested in a cruise for Anzac Day....
cheers

Hey, whats wrong with REAL measure [call it Imperial if you want] Just think of it this way, when your speedo shows 100, you are REALLY doing 100 & not that wimpy, discounted, girls version of 100. Real men talk horsepower, not what their last electricity bill was for, & torque is expressed in a value that you can easily visualise in both linear distance & a weight value you can mentally feel.
I always recon that metrics were invented for people so profoundly stupid that they couldn't count past 10,..... & i can count to 20, so imperial is good enough for me. Give me fractional inches any day.
Well, thats what i recon, even if i am showing my age.

PS I just may have a metric converted speedo available. I put an accessory face in it back in the 80's so it shows both real speed & metric speed. I only did it to stop my wife from nagging in my ear y'un'erstan'
I will check it out in a couple of days.

Dodgeman, I have to agree with you on the mph speedo thing. My 1000 is in miles and I enjoy the antique thing about it. We have had metric in Australia for a while now (since 72 i think) and not many cars are in miles now. I always surprise people when I tell them that I cruise along doing 65 when i do long distance. They all look at me and call me grandpa, then I explain that that is i miles, they all look at me funny, and I explain it in KPH. A good laugh.....

Careful calling an mph speedo "antique", our telephonically enhanced toyboy will have something to say about that

I've only had one car that doesn't have mph. But then again 4 of my 5 cars have been 1200s.

I knew that post would catch a few bites with you kooky MPH imperial thinkers!
Still it's better than getting any more state revenue ahem I mean speeding tickets
You know that a MacyD's quarter pounder only has 2/3's of a quarter pound of meat in it! a classic example of the imperial system letting us down!

hey hey now.

Dont go justifying your dislike for imperial just casue maccas is a dodgy company!! .

Doin a real 100 is an experiance to be had in a 1000, which i am sure you have experianced. 65 is just sooo plain...

McDonalds allegedly misrepresent the weight of the meat in a quarter pounder, & it's an axample of the imperial system letting us down? Figure that one.

No matter how metric our cars are, we still use 13" or 14" wheels [or other] that are 6" or 5-1/2" wide [or other] but use a 114. point who bloody cares, bolt pattern. What kind of lunacy is that. It's 4-1/2 inches. Is that so hard to say, .... or admit.

Within Australia, imperial is here to stay. Every standard road is one chain wide, fence to fence. Thats a surveyors chain of 100 links & it measures 66 feet. No more & no less. We can convert it to some meaningless metric number that is twenty digits long, or it can be "approximately" 20 metres, but no matter how you disguise it, it's still 22 yards wide & nothing will change it.
Look at all our metricly measured goods. Most of them are "close enough" conversions of an imperial measure.

Besides, metrics is a failed experiment in Australia. We will go back to real measure soon, i'm sure. Even the US won't touch it.
