Do I really need to change CAS? Would rather not if It's not necessary

put gtr injectors and T28BB on it, have a DET ecu tuned for these bits, so will see how it goes

last owner of the turbo welded the wastegate shaft to the housing for max boost.... nasty....

I forgot to mention there was a bung in the de block where the det oil feed line is. so all I needed to do was change that for the oil feeder fitting to hook up the turbo

Sweet sounds a lot easier than Sr. my comment re the CAS is specific to the SR as you need to replace the dissy. I'll let someone else comment for ca

By definition it detects the angle... Shouldn't need to be changed I guess. Cut the weld off the wastegate today, works freely again

no point rebuilding a DE

is it the common thing to rotate the compressor housing on the T28BB for this install?

The CAS are the same between de and det.
I dunno about the T28's, but my mate had to rotate the compressor housing on his T25G to make it fit on his CA.

yeah its only the really early CAs that didnt have the girdle apparently, ive never seen a CA without it....the DE is pretty much identical to a DET apart from the pistons and oil squirters and different water outlets in the block accessories
