I believe it is tapered Pipe Thread.

Does the cylinder head you are using have a threaded connection at the front? You could put the heater hose there.

Also keep in mind that the A-series engine does not require heater hoses. It will run fine with the head plugged.

ddgonzal, In the first picture you posted can you block off both (top and bottom) of the heater outlet/inlet?
Will it affect the cooling of the block?
What is the best way to plug them? Thanks again!!

Hi DD it does have the front threaded but i was thinking of putting in a water temp gauge..
I wanted to install a heater hence wondering how best to do it given the stock inlet is unforunately unaccessible!

got the dizzy fitted on my a12 I didn't have a timing light handy so the mechanic who was doing my rego said he'd put it in for me.. took it for a drive down the st when he was done and it was spluttering like crazy.. i asked him if he'd even timed the motor.. crazy!

You do not need a timing light. Set the timing static, since you know the specifications. It will be every bit as good as with a timing light. To fine-tune it do it by ear, not by the timing light.

The A-series block (unlike certain L-series) does not need any heater hoses.

Yes, plug them. Hundreds of thousands of factory A12 Datsuns came without a heater.
* Back of head: remove fitting and fit plug
* Lower radiator hose: replace with single-piece hose (without heater hose adapter)
You could also just cap the fittings. Or run the long heater hose to the back of the block, bypassing the heater core. Any method works.

3/8 bspt. Your could also retap it to 3/8 bspf in order to fit non taper thread fittings /adapters etc. I recently did the later in order to fit a 3/8 bspf/An-10 adapter fitting.
