About to buy new tires for the 1200, want something that is good for fast street driving.

After 195 50 15s, looking a spending up to $150ea

Just wondering if anyone might have recommendations of a tire that would do the job?

The 595 has been a good price lately, but for cheap and effective tyres alot of the regional drifters seem to like the Achilles 123. I quite like gt radials but for the 14s I just bought a set of potenza re001s, I am a fan but i hadvent had a new set before so time will tell whether their lifespan is sufficient.

i have a set of used semi's that you can have for $100 each, still plenty of tread.

Lifespan of any sticky/performance tyre is excellent on the lightweight 1200. For that reason, it's difficult to rationalize using anything else (they are safer and corner better than "long lasting" tyre formulations).

For $150 each you can get some nice very high performance tires. Like Bridgestone Potenza RE002 ($180 AUD) for 195/55R15 or Potenza RE-11A for 195/50R15 ($124 USD).

yeah my brother priced up some potenzas, not sure which ones, for $125 ea. the guy at the tire shop said they had performed very well against some good brands that were being tested the same day.

Dont think semis will really last that long on my car ange. i do drive it every day, dont really want to waste tires just driving to and from work
what brand and size are they anyway?

What were they like in the wet?
Can email pics if you have some

Rather tempted by the re002 as bob jane is selling them for $145 and jax are selling them 4 for the price of 3

I used to run Bridgestone RE55s on my other (non datto) car and they last fine when you are just rolling around commuting. As soon as you hit the track the rubber just peels off them but for transit duties the wear rate was ok if you took it easy.
Same thing with A038's I had on my 1600.
