I've got a H190 housing, alloy centre & axles with modified mounts for a 1200, with the axle tubes baffled & a raised filler plug for more capacity from a 520 ute, you'd just need to change from the 6 stud pattern to a 4 stud pattern. With an LZ14, you could get away with a H165 from a 1200 ute. Hope theres not too much cancer under the paint.

Hey mate,
there is stuff all cancer in the yellow coupe. It has been garaged most of it's life. I am quite happy to do rust repairs anyway, playing with Datto's get you used to making repair panels and welding them in.

How much do you want for the H190? pm me if you would prefer. I hope to be making over 200hp so I would rather build a good H190 than build a H165 and find out it is not up to the task.

Apparently the works Sunny Excellent ran a H190 as well.

Cheers

Good luck with build LZsunny.

Where did you pick up the coupe from...is this the one from Knox that had a half chopped out rollcage?

Thats the one.
Good shell, the cage was absolute rubbish.
Not a problem, the new cage will be going in soon.

I quite enjoy doing a bit of panel work

Yeah, I had a look at the shell when it was on ebay. Bit tooooo much body work for me!

From memory the cage was pretty solidly welded along the A pillars and the tunnel had a bit of a modification too....not to mention the big cutouts on both rear wheel arches.

That said it was definitely all fixable and I've seen a lot worse.

Best of luck with the build and keep the update photos coming so we can all watch your hard work.

Awesome project. Keep us all up to date with the progress.
I would love to build a kpb110 replica one day.

Tell us more about the LZ head you have. Why does it have a different style valve cover to all the pictures I have seen of LZ's. Were there two variations?

Have you concidered making front guards and bonnet out of fibre glass?

LZ16, LZ18 and LZ20 used a different cover.

LZ14 (1600cc) engine used a cover like that. See LZ engine.

The yellow shell definitely needs a bit of work.
I will get the cage cut out soon and replace the tunnel to get rid of the current abortion that is in there.

If I can get some stuffed Sunny Excellent front panels I will bog them up and use them to make molds for composite panels.

As ddgonzal said there are early and late LZ heads. The late model one runs the flat valve cover and had better port shapes.

Here is a pic of my late LZ engine back when it was fitted to a 510 sports sedan.

I may end up using the late head in the 1200 for now as the early head is incomplete and needs all the bolt in bits made for it.

I will start a build thread on the 1200 soon, just flat out working on my 1600 wagon at the moment

Will talk to the owner of diff housing & will get back to you. Sorry didn't reply earlier as I was away this weekend helping a mate with his open wheeler, first run of the day he blew a hole in the head, end of the fun. Took the head off this morning, could have used the hole in the Sydney underground rail system. Caused by the head not torquing down over that cylinder & creating a leak. High static compression ratio plus 26 pounds boost equals blow torch.
Plus the rear brakes were stuck on due to a master cylinder problem that didn't occur until he did his first burnout, so when the engine torched the head, the car stopped immediately. Had to crack the rear brake line to relieve the pressure before they could tow it off the track. Still, they only lost 5 minutes, so they weren't too upset.
