hey guys, i have a problem with my ute...
the car starts up but then sounds like its idling on 3 cylinders... accelerating it does go back to normal but then gets alot of back firing happening like im in world war 3.
i checked the dizzy, and spark plugs. 1 of my spark plugs (cylinder 1) was really black.
i then went and bought new ones and turned my fuel idle screw down and its still happening
in fact its worse. tried my old carby thinking it is a air/fuel mixture but no luck
oh and also at start up and warming up my exhaust is spitting black stuff out!

was wondering if anyone knows what is wrong with it or if anyone has been though the same problem as i am experiancing?

I had this issue with a fresh rebuild, I replaced the plug and corrected the timing and it was perfect after that

Bad plug wires, worn cap and rotor, carbon tracking inside the distributor cap? Changing the spark plug got rid of one possibility, But check the other stuff before blaming it on something major. Also it would be a good idea to check the valve adjustment, if they are tight, it could cause similar symptoms.
