Hey everyone

Just wondering what people have done with to stiffen tue rear of a sedan up , I have my wheel fitment perfect on the rear and the height is good too but if I push down the tyres grab on the gaurds

My plan is get a coilover style shocky replacement

Something I can bolt into the stock tower in the rear

Looking at trying some r32 skyline coilys , they are apparently really short

Or would monroe pump up shocks be a better option? Do they raise the car when pumped up or stiffen the shock heaps?

Also considering fitting a sway bar to the rear and either a watts link or panhard setup

Also ill be stickin with the leafs cos they work , and 4 link is over the top for I think

My sedan has a set of stiffer springs on the back which I had put there back in the '90s when I used the car as a tradesman vehicle and it was always full of heavy tools and stuff. Although it raised things a bit (most people try and lower their sedans, Ive never been able to work out why because it just handles yuk and is really awful on crap Sydney roads) I found it much better overall esp on the dirt (somewhere I used to take my datto fairly regularly, and will do so again soon).

I also have a stiffer K-Mac sway bar on the front, put there when I busted the old stock one. More of those Sydney speed humps.

Shocks are all bog stock.

well mine is slammed ,back cant go lower unless i get 20mm spacers as im running 30s and they stick out a little too much ,i could keep rolling the gaurd but that means more bog which idont want plus the gaurds sit nice

front has coilovers but obviously it wont sit that low ,they will be would up about 1.5inch

i know its low ,dont hate on it please ,i just wanna know what options i have to make the rear stiff but not solid mounted haha ,rear has flipped leafs and thats it

To make the rear end stiffer, choices include:

* Adding leafs to the spring pack
* Fitting air shocks

Both of those raise the rear up.


* fitting very stiff, short coil springs
* fitting very stiff, short leaf springs (such as reset ute or wagon leaves)

Hhhmm I could put blocks in to make it sit realy realy low then use monroe pump up air shocks to lift it and make it stiff at the same time :D does that seem plausable?

Do anyone make an airshock for a 1200 ?

yes, just need to find shock with loop on one end and bayonet on the other end.

I've got some gabriel hijack air shocks at work we're trying to sell cheap
I'll see if any match the 1200 dimensions for you

That would be awesome ! Can you see if you can get em 1-2 inch shorter compressed than stock 1200 cos mine are bottomed out before it sits nice :D

I don't have many left but I did find something that might work

Stock 1200 sedan shock
Open 529mm
Compressed 367mm
Stud at the top
Sleeved bush at the bottom.. 12mm hole

Garbiel air jacker
Open 501mm
Compressed 305mm
Stud at top
Rubber bush bottom with about 16mm hole... you'd have to make own sleeve bush to fit to suit.
The shock mount is slightly offset... I'll try to remember to take camera to work and get a pic so you can see

And cheap too... and we have the airline kit in stock too
