It's been done a few times in the last 10 years.
So it's possible, the SR uses very similar crossmember side mounts, so using a CA18DET crossmember as a starting point would be a good idea. I'd be concerned about brake and clutch master cylinder clearance. The clearance of the steering on the passanger side may require a set of custom made header pipes, but the factory ones should be able to be modified. The CA18DE exhaust manifold. The ability of you to understand the critical components on the engine, and being able to wire them up is generally the most difficult thing to do. Get good brakes. Cheers

I have it in PDF format. for the S14, the S13 manual I have in PDF is only for the CA18DET. It's at home (you'll have to wait 7 hours), but I can put it on my webpage if you want to download it ..it's about 30MB.
Cheers Chris.

if you swapped the front crossmember for one of Datsport's "SR20 into 1600" crossmembers, then i think it would sit just fine. use stanza / 180B lower control arms, stanza struts and 120Y castor rods and the whole front end should come together nicely.

thanks dattodude, if you could post the s14 manual on your site it would be much appreiciated. I just tried to download it from datnet.org but an error kept occuring bout halfway through. If it'll take you too long to upload it I'll just try and download it again form datnet.org another time.
Pro-240c thanks for your reply, but I didn't think 1600 crossmembers would fit a 1200. I'll probably just modify the original 1200 crossmember to suit once I lower the engine in place to see how it needs to be modified. The other info on the front end sound pretty good!

I curently own a 1200 sedan with SR20DE implant and SR 5 speed.
I didnt construct this but ive hade the engine and box out and replaced. Problems Clearance between plenum chamber and brake booster. Steering cross rod touches engine (either full lock left or right cant remember) the rod moves up and down when you steer you will proably need to costomize it. Ive used a costom exaust to make it fit a bit better. Engine and gearbox have to be removed togeather unless you have extensive work done to the tunnel and firewall so you can get the bolts un done. I heard on the site that someone else on the site makes CA18DET engine cross members I also heard that this will suit SR20DET can someone varify???? Also can someone verify if the 1600's SR20DET engine cross member will fit in a 1200 and if it need to be modified?????? A crap diff wont last long especially if u drive it hard all the time. And also the extra weight in the front changes the handling a bit. If you are looking for massive power go a CA cause there is more you can do to a turbo engine, but the SR is not to be under rated they go good especialy if you do some work to them Hope this helps also there is some pics of a LHD 1200 with SR implant posted not to long ago.

1600 (P510) crossmember in a 1200? Maybe, but I don't recall hearing about it. If it fit, it would make L-series engine swaps easy. Instead, everyone seems to modify the 1200 crossmember or L-series oil pan?

Thanks 731200 some helpful info you've included there!
Talking about diffs what type are you using? I was thinking of using a 1500 ute diff as dad and i measured one up a few years ago but never ended up needing it at the time. From memory it may have increase track width aprox. 20mm but all the leaf spring mounts seemed as though they would line up. The stud paturn on the axles would have to be changed but i think the diff would be strong enough as it's out of a commercial vehicle. Anyone know anything about a diff swap like this?
