As DD stated 60 series will be plenty strong, even the 56A can survive in a light body

OK fellas there are new batch available

PM me for orders or for deposits for these beauties

As Datman1947 has cut the time it takes to finish them up
new batch ones at 790aud

This kit is all you need to get it all sorted a bargain for a twin cammer A series
No more waiting for an AY or billet twin cam head just get a B6 head from any Mazda,
Ford and Kia for a bargain price and mod your block as described earlier.
I will supply all the details in printed form for reference to make it happen.

This is an amazing opportunity that has more hp and less cost than a worked GX.
It trounces any oval port head to the weeds!

Even better more room on the inlet side which is where the spark plugs used to be
I have a pic coming of an OHC A12 with a sidedraft weber, you can use the sidedraft
weber manifold on the inlet side to mount it to with a small plenum/flange.

Hey D

Just want to clarify

Looking at the B6 motor, and which cars to source it from. It seems that there is a plethora of variants of the B6.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_B_engine#B6

This Wikipedia link shows that there is a heap of different options.
From what I have gathered from the threads above, it seems that the head comes from the following

16-valve DOHC
##1994-1998 Ford Laser KJ/KL
##1997-2004 Kia Sephia/ Kia Shuma/ Kia Spectra
##2000-2005 Kia Rio(for export markets only

It seems that the cream of the range was the B6ZE motor. Is this the head to chase? or perhaps the B6T from the TX3s, or what?

Any b6 motor will do also Ford Capri have them, Batman has also put together a sohc crossflow head using the same kit so theres room also for other heads from B series as long as its 1600 and below and not the 1800 head.

I suggest the A14 and A15 block to use the stock B6 pistons which are 78mm and perfect 2mm overbore for those engines which leaves plenty of rebuilds.

Whichever B6 twin cam head you use its doesnt matter as long as you can run 2 exhaust cams! There are many 1.6 making 160hp atw using OBX cams, milling head 2mm!, racing beat headers, sports cat, 45mm webers with Rowland inlet manifold (only 168aud plus 40aud landed!) and ecu to run ignition only or cheap megajolt crankfire ignition. Same mods on a 1.8 Bp yields just 172bhp atw only 12hp more for 200cc extra.

look at the exhaust cam specs compared to inlet

Thanks D

Since I'm planning on EFI and turbo, I'm thinking that Ill try to run the stock Mazda stuff for simplicity if nothing else. If (and when) I get flush with cash, I can then go for off-the-shelf go-fast bits and bolt on the extra HP!!

I'm also going to be shoving this setup into the thou, so bonnet clearance is the word for the day there. Hoping the factory stuff will fit under there.

Now as for the twin cam heads, is there something that I should be looking for with regards to the twin exhaust cam mod? Any special head stampings?

Another thing, looking at the pics, obviously there aren't any accessories fitted yet, but Datman1947 has kept the standard A-series crank pulley, which I assume is for the alternator. I'm also hoping that I can fit an air-con pump under there, so that I can make the thou much more wife friendly.

Im also planning on running an electric water pump to sole the water pump issues.

You best get a b6 from a chap capri or 323, I like the capri due to the rocker cover batman used so makes it more retro. The mx5 front thermostat housing is good to get and a block off plate for the rear.
If you are worried about clearance look around all the models to see which manifold is best either ford, mazda or kia. Wife will beat you in such a setup.
