gee ddgonzal splitting hairs with definition of bellhousing.....
At the end of the day the same box can be used between Sr20s and CA18s with one part swapped over, "Bellhousing" or "Front Case with integral Bellhousing".
Agreed RB box is stronger, COTS adaptors exist for Sr20, have not seen one for CA18 though. If there is would like to know.

Mate you could nearly leave your box standed and drive it depending how hard you flog the gears.i don't think ull get rediculess power out the a ca to completly destroy the box

Did you know that the RB20de/det FS5W71C gearbox actually has the shifter further forward than the SR/Ca gearboxes?
So slap a CA/SR ballhousing on an RB gearbox, and your shifter is further forward which is perfect for a little datto.
I'm planing to use one in my 510.

Nissan calls it "Front Case".

RB25DE used FS5W71C
RB25DET used FS5R30A

Do you mean the R33 RB20 71C gearbox, vs the S13/S14/S15 71C gearboxes?
Is it longer than a stumpy but with the gearshift in the right place for a 1200?

These all use the same rear extension as the R33 RB20 gearbox:
K30 Crew RB20
R31,R32,R33 Skyline RB20,RB25DE
A31 Cefiro RB20
C33 Laurel RB20
Z31 Fairlady RB20

I'm not sure what it's out of. BUt a friend told me that the rb's have the shifter forward, and when I measured it, he was right.
Not as far forward as a stumpy. But better that the run of the mill stuff.

I scored an RB box with noisy bearings for $20 from some flat peaker. Good score,
