I was also wondering if not using the stock ECU (still having problems tracking down a loom for stock), where would a good place for an IAT sensor be
This is beyond the scope of the
200SX EFI article, which is all about using a stock Datsun ECU. The stock Datsun setup comes with an IAT sensor.
If you can't find the stock engine loom and a stock 4-cylinder ECU for budget prices, you might as well go with the $279
MegaSquirt ECU. It is more capable than the Datsun ECU, as MS can handle turbo boost and modified engine. The 200HP
Finn A14 is using MegaSquirt. $279 MegaSquirt II kit

MS II can do EDIS crank trigger ignition just need a trigger wheel and sensor. See
EDIS for easy A-series wheels (no welding/no machining needed).
If you want to run COP (coil on plug), I would get the $569 MegaSquirt III
