Hey Fellow datoites,

I realize that this is a 1200 worshipers site,
but i have a datsun 1000, running a 1200gx motor, with twin dellorto carbs and some fairly heavy grinding and porting done, i have read the tech section and some of my answers are there though i have a couple of ones i can find answers to and would apperciate any help.

i have just fitted a fogger NOS kit to the car and am trying to figure out the best ignition setup that i can configure to allow the right amount of retarding with the least hassle, i am considering converiting the dirstibuter to electonic ignition, with a crane cams fireball, though, does anyone have a better way for me to do this that may work better,

also in relation to diffs, and gear box, what is the best box to use and what diffs will fit in the 1000.

currently i get 127hp at the reatrs at 6800rpm and with the nos im hoping for 180hp, and i am worried that with the stock diff (with a mini spool) will break an axle.

Any suggestions or comments would be appeciated.

Brakes and suspension are something you need to think about too.
I have bolt on front disc brake conversions available if needed.
You will break axles if you actually manage to get any HP to the treads with sticky tyres.
I'll be using a Pintara diff in my 1000 coupe when its finished (appropriatly shortened of course)
I'll have a CA18et in it so will use the 5 speed that goes along with it.
Elect ign will be mandatory for what you envisage
I was going to use a fogger on mine once too.......but decided against it and sold the kit off again for what I paid for it. The short kick in the pants wasn't enough for me.......I wanted it all the time.

Hey Dattoman,

Thanks for that, as for the disc breaks, i was going to use a VT commadore set thay will modify a kit up for me at hopper-stoppers and use a BA falcon booster and master cylinder.

How much do you want for your kits?

cause it may be more simple and less overkill than the VT kit.

The reason ive gone for nos instad of turbo/supercharger is that the car is I feel quick enough for daily driving as is and the Kick is just for suped up V8's and when i decide to hit the runway.

also thanks for the diff advice, as i was thinking about using a boug out of a VL
but i would need to modify the undercarage, and the weight factor also becomes an issue much like overkill on the brakes does.

Do you have an ignition setup that you would reccomend, or am i better to goo with what i know from my gemini days?

Cheers

i too would be interested in the disc brake front end for these little monsters.

i've always loved the datto 1000 but the drum front end has always kept me from buying one - and the conversion is not as easy as slipping B210 (120Y) struts under a B110 (1200).

with a turbo A12 and a celica box, and disc front end....next project maybe....?

VT stuff would be total overkill and I really don't think you'd even get it on. The master and booster would never fit in the engine bay unless its a ute and the engine is going in the tray
I'll post info regarding the disc brakes very soon

Pro240c
When we cruise on 4th July take a look inside the wheels of Sachas red 1000 ute. He has the first of my kits we fitted to his car last weekend. Still refining it (needs different master cylinder) but it stops alot better now.
I'll be bringing a kit with me to show and tell.......lol. And your EBC brake pads of course.
We have another member coming along who is toying with suspension mods .......I am too for mine.....thinking double A arms and coilovers ah la Westfields.....still working on that one though.
I also hope to have my fibreglass 1000 bonnet with scoop back from the painters so I can bring that along to show too. Theres been some interest in that also.( I plan to make them for sale too)

Should make for some interesting chatting come 4th.

now that is good...
I assume that you only got one extra horse power as a result of that mod. I guess ever little bit helps hey... and its removable when you just wanna do some cruzing. chuck it in when you go to the drags...
