Does this brace bolt to the firewall? And what is the "rack"?

Sorry "rack" being the sheet metal box the the pedals are attached to.

I will post images as I do the install.

Nissan calls that the "Pedal and Steering Post Bracket", though most here call it the "pedal box"

46570-H1600 LHD ASSY-BRACKET PEDAL & STEERING POST

Unfortunately mounting the M/C on top of the bracket means you can't use the stock dash assembly. Do you think there is room beside the Bracket, i.e. next to where the flasher can is (on either side?)

For the record my dashboard is long gone; I have flat aluminum sheet cover on a horizontal plane at the lower edge of the windshield that bolts to the vertical gauge panel.

I'm assuming the flat vertical face will butt up against the vertical hangers that hold the pedal box up?

This setup was intended for cars that have a sheet metal dash.

The mounting plate in the photo above will butt up against the vertical sheet metal mounts that hold up the pedal box. It has 3 M8 X 1.25 threaded holes that will require through holes to be drilled on the pedal box. 2 horizontal holes for the ears on either side of the mount plate and 1 vertical under the u shaped cutout at the bottom. You can see the boss to the right of the MC mount profile.

This kit will look just like this

I am still exploring where best to place mounting holes for the MC mount plate.

Would the dash fit with one of these? Looking at the pedal box and having remote brake fluid reservoirs. The BMC can be located behind the factory dash

A common thing I've seen on race cars is the remote reservoirs actually bolted to the dashboard essentially where radio would be but mounted in such a way that it's still higher than the M/C.

As Dave pointed out there are stock Datsun remote reservoirs, those could be mounted in various locations. In my case I would simply use a removable panel to gain access to the reservoirs.
