Fired the car up yesterday and let it idle for 30 minutes and then shut it down. The timing was set at TDC initially so I kept advancing it until the car started and stayed running which was at around 20 advanced. Set it to 30 and tighten down the distributor. Car idled great!
Used Joe Gibbs BR40 Break In oil so I drained that and filled it with HR5 conventional oil and will run that for a few miles on the road. With the oil filter relocator the car takes 5 quarts instead of the standard 4.
Once I get a few road miles on it I'll fill it with Joe Gibbs DT40 or XP9 full synthetic.
Lastly, before doing the startup I accidentally bumped the engine temp sensor and broke the seal on the mechanical sending unit which means the sending unit and gauge are toast. Never got to see the temp on motor and after shut down I had to tear everything apart to get it. So radiator and supercharger with carbs are back out. Gauge is out of the dash and I'm waiting for a new one in the mail. So everything is on hold again.
