Has anyone tried the Scat H-Beam Rods part #65110187, with the JE Pistons Opel 1.6L 79mm pistons, on a E16 Crank thats been offset ground for a 89.5mm stroke in a A14/A15 Block? Im looking at this combination for my bottom end in my FWD 1981 Datsun 310GX.

Most guys that race the E16 are tight-lipped about the mods they do. But club member 120ZZZ did it - see Bored And Stroked. Made for 1725 cc A-series engine.

Or use stock off the shelf pistons and rods.

Here's some additional information I found;

Used Chevy Aveo rods can be found on eBay for $20-30 which is much cheaper than the Scat rods.

Aveo pistons are 79mm with an 18mm pin and a 27.78 pin height. Used with the Aveo rods they would require the block to be decked 2.5mm so I'm not sure that would work. The rods should fit E16 crank.

Daihatsu K3VET rods are 132mm and would work with the Aveo piston but the big end width is way small 17mm versus 21mm for E16. You,could, either weld the journals on the crank to ge the right side clearance. Since the E16 crank needs machine anyway not sure how much extra work that is. I think it would be cheaper to just get custom rod at that point.

Honda EB3 rods (78-79 Civic) are 129mm C-C with 43mm big end but have a 17mm pin. Coupled with a 78mm or 79mm Mazda B6 piston would mean you would only have to mill a slight bit off the top op the piston.

A member here many moons ago sleeved an A series to 82mm
and his engine machinist calculated 83.5mm was possible max
That gives 1775cc or 1796cc just sleeving alone respectively.
Revs would be better using A15 crank. Grouted bottom end
and flat steel plate ladder brace for mains should see a
9000rpm and with the rest done right could see 200hp as the
e15 engines supposedly make 220hp in speedway on meth,
14.1 compression and 10.5k rpm with 50mm mech injection.
e15 also has 82mm stroke like A15.
Only issue is the head would need careful attention for offset
bores of that size so prob best use a twin cam head that are
evenly spaced like the Mazda B6, Vauxhall cossworth x16x or
the nissan ga16de head.
