Hi all i would like some opinions one a brake upgrade for my stanza struts. Engine will be a15 turbo. I'm tossing up between hilux s12+8 with u12 rotor or varada rotor and vl commodore caliper. Want to keep weight down and fit 14" wheels. What's people's thoughts on the 2 choices. I'm thinking the 4 piston caliper will be overkill. I was going to do the the c22 vanette upgrade but don't want to machine anything off the strut. I'd prefer to leave the strut as is and machine the disc/ hub.

Cheers, i agree it looks heavy but look fat at the same time. New calipers can be bought cheap off eBay as well, not sure on the quality over rebuilt oem.

They do stop well, but I want a vented disc so when I do a track day I can avoid brake fade. The car is getting restored now so it's the best time to sort out brakes and wheels

Yes, S13 silvia is the most versatile swap. They aren't very big (only 5mm larger disks than Stanza) and they are vented, common, inexpensive, easy to install

The U12 Pintara/S13.USA variation (DBA 617 disc) is installed the same, but are 7mm larger than Stanza, good for 14" rims

The S13 SR20 turbo brakes (280mm discs) are good for 15" rims. Also a stock item in USA from U13U Altima

Stanza A10 struts & hubs, with S13 rotors bolted behind hub

Cheap S12+8 four-piston calipers bolt directly to A10 Stanza struts (no adapter needed) only need to shave a bit off the hub and caliper then shim/space about 1mm to achieve dead centre. See S13 Brakes on Stanza Struts

Could anyone chime in and suggest a good brake set up for 13” rims? I know that is very small and 14” seem to be limit for good options BUT I have these rare rims and I don’t want to give I pa for larger more expensive wheels... Any help would be much appreciated

S13 Brakes fit some (but not most) alloy 13" rims. But in USA we often fit the larger 280ZX rotors which fit most 13" alloy rims. The 280ZX Strut Swap was even more common but those are getting harder to find
