Greg thanks; I would likely use the flat slide carbs I have on my A15. I'm likely to get some push back with fuel injection on the car. It also makes it easier for me to tune.

I also have to sheepishly admit that I don't know how the SR20 CAS works; I'm assuming the ECU takes care of the timing advance but again I don't know.

D I have looked at the OZDAT post on the KA head and there is machining that needs to be done. There is also a good bit of mixing and matching to be done. As I'm not likely to be tuning the motor very hard the KAL and SR motor would likely end up with the same power output.

As for Toyota engines I'm pretty sure that would be outside the rules; I don't know of any series that allows this. Most series I've looked up want the same brand of engine.

Starting with a 130-140hp engine and adding headers/extractors cleaning up the ports and up prated cam shafts would likely another 20hp without much trouble.

Well I guess I will finally have to get on Facebook.

I mentioned the SR20 to my son and low and behold one his friends has a SR20 turbo look block in need of a rebuild. As I would be pulling apart any motor I'd buy this could be the ticket.

Thats the way,so much easier to upload vids and to comunicate with other race people.
This site is still good for imfo and parts
The motor sounds like a good place to start ditch the turbo slap on some 48mm carbs and your racing.(well nearly anyway)..

There very cheap to overhaul and a lot of strong part avaliable.

Definitely would ditch the turbo; currently the flat slides are 39mm so those may or may not be too small.

A traditional distributor would be a plus for me even though it's a bit backwards. I've been eyeballing parts and everything seems pretty reasonable.

Additionally the ratios in the six speed box are very good; I even calculated max rpm in 6th with the short tires I use and the 4.38 final drive. Comes out to 128mph at 7500 rpm.

I think they might be a bit small i run 45s onthe 1300.
We are not allowed to use the 6 speed unless you lock out 6th gear

would be good to see the sr20ve inlet ports vs stock sr20de
I think the ve has smaller ports on the sr16ve version but
uses revs to get the air speed and vtec like setup

If the ve ports are small for the sr20ve you could get away
with 45mm carbs but 48s seem to be the go for the DE motors

I saw a 120y run 50mm itbs and its chews 5 speeds with its slicks
owner was looking at rb25 conversion

The 5 speeds are not real strong compaired to the 6 speed even with a Ca18 in race mode

Greg the 39mm Keihins are the choke size were as DCOE 45s have much smaller choke size, I think those are 38mm but I know that varies with application.

One other thing I didn't even consider; does IPRA allow fuel injection in a 1200? I'm assuming so but thought it wise to ask.
