3 years since updating this particular thread,
I decided to remove the side tabs since my tonneau cover doesn't use them.
also wanted to freshen up the sides.

Then you know how sometimes you can't leave well enough alone? ... I picked at a crack in the botton left corner of the passenger rear wheel arch and it turned into an exploration expedition - oh dear bog almost half an inch thick and very little metal holding it!

out with the MIG

Finished...ish
just the sanding and polishing to go once it's cured

There was a bit of work to do on the drivers side rear bottom of wheel arches. The problem with living on a dirt road is that the car perpetually has dirt underneath and it holds the moisture for rust to form... oh well

Maybe not ...

A very low reading (10 - 30) sometimes means a stuck valve. If you get it un-stuck it may work perfectly well

On the other hand, since the two low-reading cylinders are next to each other, it's more likely to be a blown head gasket

Do an air-leak to test to confirm the problem -- without needing to disassemble the engine. Is air leaking out the manifold (stuck valve) or leaking out the radiator (blown gasket)? A blown gasket often can be fixed without any machining of the head. The tolerance of the A-series and of the twin-cam KA24DE are both at 4 thousands of an inch warp, anything less than that doesn't need the head re-machined. Just put a new gasket on it

CA18DE Engine rebuild
Blown and scorched between 2 and 3.
Head is being done.
Bores pitted.
It's been hot tanked, deck to be checked, getting measured tomorrow for bearings, rebore, new internals, etc, etc, etc.

Doing it right, hopefully just once.
