Its on an early A dist. from a motor Im trying to "bench start", I don't have a control module unless its self contained like Pertronix. Its a disc style running thru 2 pickups, 3 wires - black, gray, white. Hall effect type maybe??

If I cant use this can a late A model matchbox dist. be swapped in? if so, what's to do about the mount plate, doesn't align with early A block.

Hey - how does one load pic's from an iphone in a post?

thanks!

maybe these are better.

I'm recalling the offsite photo issues, store them on Photobucket or somewhere then have to go there & copy the url's into the posts.
I've used other forums where you can upload directly from the photo album on your phone directly into the post, that's not possible on this site?

Yeah I can see it now. Looks like Lumenition conversion. Needs an external box

The bigger problem is the vacuum advance is not connected, so the timing will randomly vary by 50 degrees while running

A late-model distributor fits -- just modify the hold-down plate to cut out a bit of the slot
Open in new window

The yellow marks show where you should cut (or you can cut it twice, like I did ). This lets the 5-degree timing line up in the middle of the adjustment range, with the new distributor pointing the same direction as the original distributor

for the 210 distributor
* Head of T: "C" connector goes to coil negative
* Stem of T: "B" connector goes to coil positive

I think I figured out what system this is - Crane Optical LED iginition, heres a link to Amazon show all the parts & pieces.

Yes Im missing the control module, maybe it'd be worth buying the kit, about the same price as a Pertronix conversion.

Anyone ever run one or know much about these?

The Datsun 210 system is better
* Maintenance-free VR trigger
* high energy ignition
* better spark separation

I hate chopping up/modifying OE parts so I'll probably make a copy of a new mount plate and use the matchbox dist.
