If you haven't got the wheel yet, consider a 3-bolt steering wheel

Grant 4590 ($38 USD) is a short style, and works with 3-bolt steering wheels such as this one

Can also work with 6-bolt type A wheels using a "grant-to-momo" adapter (3 bolt to 6 bolt)

Or with Nardi/Personal \wheels using a "Grant-to-Nardi" adapter (3 bolt to 6 bolt Nardi pattern)

If you get a "flat" wheel (non-deep dish) then the Boss doesn't need to be so short. The stock Datsun 1200 wheel is a deep-dish design but some of the italian wheels are flat spoked

the eBay boss it is $99 AUD

The Grant boss kit is $38 USD brand new and in-stock readily available from multiple speed shops

I notice the your eBay Boss Kit is using a wheel adapter ring. So while it may be a low-profile design it's not that short when the adapter ring is bolted on

The Grant boss kit looks like it is shorter than the eBay boss kit

You can also use an adapter ring with it to use "universal" Momo/SAAS-style wheels (6 x 70mm PCD with M5 bolts). $30 - $40 USD. With this adapter, it might make the Grant boss kit as tall as the eBay boss kit

This short boss kit is perhaps the most popular Datsun 1200 boss kit of all, made in Japan and available in many countries

$55 AUD in stock

Part number ON-06 fits Datsun 1200 and has a dual-pattern for Momo & Nardi/Personal type steering wheels -- which means you can use wheels from MOMO, SPW, Netami, Sparco, Mugen, NRG, OMP, SAAS, Autotecnica, Boss, Victor, Oba, Rspeed, etc

This boss has the wheel threads built-in, so no need for an 10mm adapter ring

You misunderstand the spacer ring on the ex-ebay kit. It is not an adaptor, just a spacer. It gets used on the face side of the steering wheel not the back side. Therefore it does not push forward the mounting of the wheel. Its purpose, because the boss is so short, is to allow fitment of a horn button without the horn interfering with the steering shaft and nut. You are totally underestimating how short the ebay kit truely is.

Ah, thanks for explaining that. The original photos from Datskool110 are gone

would be even shorter than the Grant 4590 or the HKB ON-10. Anyone have pictures or a measurement?

It would be great if we had measurements on all of these aftermarket ones so that we can find the shortest of the short. I use a short one but don't have the box anymore and I forgot what brand, however I have always desired an EVEN shorter one! The more distance between me and the steering wheel the more comfortable it is in the 1200 ute.
