Hi Guys,
My 5 speed c/r box is in need of the following bits;
Internal cone (stamped No. 0149 on it) Looks as if this is referred to as a 'baulk ring' part number 32604- H9000
External cone - no idea what part number this is
Shifting inserts Part number 32608-H9000

Does anyone have any idea where I might track these parts down worldwide?

Cheers
Dave

Open in new window

the "external cone" is machined on each gear. or is that the internal cone?. Picture of 56A gear/cone

In this diagram from the factory service manual, the grey part is the cone/gear and the black part is the baulk ring/cone. One is the internal cone/one is the exteral cone~

Sources of these parts:

* Wrecking yard. FS5W60L came in 1978-1979 Datsun B310 Sunny/210

* eBay (either parts or entire transmission)

* Nissan spares places (hard to find)

* Nissan/Datsun clubs. About 10 years about I got boxes and boxes of all these parts from a club member. Sadly I had to scrap them when I moved overseas; nobody wanted them

32604-H9000 were used in late-model 56A 4-speed gearboxes(1975-up), 60L 4-speed and 60L 5-speed

Brand new ones are available from China and occasionally from eBay. Also "in stock" at Amayama
google search

I believe the 6-tooth H10 and H73 synchro rings will also work and shift easier (although not quite as smooth). See Synchros. These versions are in all 4-speed B110 and B210

Looks like 32608 are used on the wider 1st-Reverse synchro Hub
Open in new window

The Hubs for 2nd-3rd and 4th-5th use the narrow 32609 inserts

search for 32608-H9000 doesnt look promising

Used might be your best bet. Apparently, they were only used in the FS5W60L in the Datsun B310 1978-1979 (JAPAN) and 1979 (EUR/USA/AUS)

If the synchro cone part of the gear is damaged, replace the whole gear. Or weld it up and re-machine it?

From the factory I'm only aware of one gearset. Close-ratio gearset will have unique gears

factory gears
32230-H9000 GEAR ASSY-1ST
32250-H9000 GEAR ASSY-2ND
32260-H9000 GEAR ASSY-3RD 27T
32200-H7300 GEAR ASSY-MAIN DRIVE 20T [4th] same F4W60L 4-speed
32340-H9000 GEAR ASSY-OVERDRIVE [5th]

Thanks so much DD- as always a fountain of knowledge...
The other option re the 32608 insert may to be to get some made but that would be a last resort.
Cheers

I have bought product from this business previously. The shift insert may be compatible for the 60L. It’s listed for the externally shifted 60a out of the c22 van. Check the wiki for the Nissan part number reference. I also bought the input shaft to replace my extremely worn one in my 60a. Needed a little machining to adjust the seated height for the input bearing. They differ by about 2.5mm from memory. They also sell replacement cluster shafts. Only difference is the 3rd gear ratio, so it makes sense to buy 3rd gear also, which they sell. We have to think outside the box now to keep these old cars running now. Parts are slim on the ground.
