The overalll diameter of the original 155-R12 tyre was nominally 554mm. The overall diameter of a 185x60x13 tyre is, guess what,...552mm. This is the important number to remember when buying front tyres. Rears can be bigger because they dont turn, they just rotate.
If you use larger diameter wheels, then the only way to achieve this diameter is with lower profile, higher priced, tyres.
The 185x60x13 is probably the most practical & most cost effective choice, but hey, if you got money to burn, then the sky's the limit.
Fitting the wrong size tyre means that you lose out on something, like turning circle, & body wear, but make the right choice & it's all benefit, & no real negatives. As for me, i dont want to lose any of the great features that the engineers designed into the car, & i will not be beating the crap out of it with a hammer either. Thats a butchers method of covering up bad work or bad choice.
P.S. 165x75x13 is nominally 578mm diameter 175x70x13 is nominally 576mm diameter
