What do think of all these people putting new style wheels like 16,17,18,19" wheels with low profile tyres on old cars.

Personally I think new mags with low profile tyres should be left on new cars and old skool mags or even rims with old hubbies with a decent sized profile should be left on old cars.

I admit sometimes it can look quite good but most of the time I reckon it looks stupid having these massive rims/mags on cars that clearly weren't built for them.

I agree with you on that one. In some cases they look alright on some applications such as some Datsun 1600s I have seen, but old skool wheels were made to suit old skool cars as were new wheels made to suit new skool cars. The mintest old skoolers still wear mags such as Tridents, Hotwires, Minilites...etc and they look much better this way than with big chromes or 17s. Just an opinion though.

i think that new style wheels can look good on old cars... depending on the size...

big rims such as 17" + can make datsuns in particular look like a big rollerskate...

if chosen correctly they can look good...
old school rims compliment the car better though...

and no big full chrome rims.. i dont like them on any car...

Personally I prefer the wheels/mags to suit the period of the car... but I have seen a few good new wheel/old car set-ups... particularly with new paint jobs.

I have to admit that it bugs me when I see old Merc's and Bm's with new 20 inch wheels though... they just don't look at all right. To each his own I guess...

I have had 7 different 510's (1600's) and have had every kind of old school wheel you can name. But I just got tired of it. Too old. Too "retro". I like 16's on 510's myself and have had them on my last two cars. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Maybe that's just me...
