Anyone know anything about an H75 head?

I can pick up a complete engine from a 1979 210 wagon thats been sitting awhile. Several strange things I noticed about the engine:

1. it has an H75 head on it
2. the intake and exhaust don't have any emissions stuff except a pcv. No water jacket on the intake, no egr.
3. it has a sticker on the oil fill cap thats got Japanese writing on it.

I'm guessing this is a Japanese replacement motor? The H75 was supposed to be on B210's of single or dual carb configuration, (per tech section). I don't know if this is an oval port or a round port as he won't let me take the intake off. If it is a Japanese engine, might it have a different cam? I didn't look at the casting on the block to see what size the block was

Can anyone lend some insight? thanks

If it has a single manifold stud between, & above each pair of inlet ports, then it has round ports
If it has two studs outboard of, & above the inlet ports, then it is an oval port head.

By block casting, i assume that you mean the pad where the engine number is located. The A1x prefix of course denoting the engine model & capacity.

Sorry i cant help you more.

Ok, thanks Dodgeman. I'm about half tempted to buy it because I'm not sure what it is. The lack of provisions for mounting emissions equipment has me a little baffled. I have an H72 head already and I'd like to compare the two.

I hate to contradict D/Man, but I have a round port head which does not have the stud between the ports. I had to drill and tap it myself to use a standard round port manifold.

How dare you contradict me. Just because you have one, doesn't mean that they actually exist. Oh well, i suppose i will just have to accept it. I'm not often right, & it looks like i'm wrong again, but i wonder what this head is. Is it possible that it's an industrial engine head?

The first A14 I ever bought, had a round port / multi-stud inlet manifold. The combustion chamber was open as well.

Benny, how was the performance of that head? I'm not after all out power, but something better than the smog head I have. Maybe a sacrifice between power and mileage.

It was ok, I ran it with a down draught weber. I guess the advantage over the A12 head was that it had larger valves as std.
