sounds very feasable. if you keep it simple the costs will stay down. the diff will hold up (just) from your ute, just need to upgrade the front brakes and the rest is the CA install. the standard computer is a much underated thing, definately stick with it if on a budget, if everything is done properly it'll start first time, no tune!

good luck mate

yeah i thought the diff will hold up for a while and the front brakes are already upgraded to skyline discs so all i should need is a booster and it should all be sweet
ill probally also use the cheap supra intercooler i already got at first to also save money on that
topdat if you also cut down on a few things like a cheaper alternative intercooler and also let the stock diff do some work that would cut your budget down almost 2000
just a thought

Maddat are fine, its just the cost assosiated with a workshop that i don't like. and there would surely be a workshop in your area that could do just the same job as maddat. all the datsun "specialists" will tell you the other ones are crap. maddat, datsport, cm510, nissco.... really the only way to know who is right is by knowing yourself first. the $7000 quote would not be including a motor and gearbox etc, so it would be about ten grand and really you'd end up with a bare bones conversion.

But your wrong that price with engine, gearbox, tailshaft, clutch ,exhaust, mounts, wiring.

I don't know if thats with a diff and struts i'd say no.

i'd be quite interested to see what that money gives you and what you would still need to get. i guess its not so bad then.

wow you guys are giving me heaps of good ideas now. i have started looking for the engine(front cut) and the cheapest i can find is $2400 after read through all the posts its seems still on the high side, is there a place anyone can recommend, also i have seen a couple of engine, gearbox and loom deals for around 1500 but just a little weary with k's and also whether i might be missing that one vital bit to get it working, thanks again

if you don't know exactly what you need, a half cut always will provide the reassurance that you have everything. you also learn a fair bit when you pull it all out of the front cut yourself, saves hassle of getting the bits that you are missing too. asian auto spares always have cheap half cuts, around 2000 to 2200 i think.

seriously, craig williams at maddat, he is a top bloke, He can hook you up with a crossmember if you would like to do it yourself, he can modify a crossmember to suit any engine you want and make up a gearbox crossmember to go with that too. http://www.maddat.cjb.net/
