sorry tim, should a thought of that rather than just boasting about it.the site is www.nissan.co.za,the site is in links-businesses under 'new datsun 1200 bakkie from south africa'.when you get onto the site,go to 'OWNING' on the far right, enter'then enter on 'PARTS'.this will bring you to a screen with 4 options,go to 'LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLES',then go to 'MAKE YOUR SELECTION' & choose '1200&1400(1400/5)'.next,go to 'SECTION',choose there,ie engine, powertrain, etc.then choose the subsection,ie intake manifold.this will bring up a screen which doesn't fit my monitor too well, but you scroll up or down, left or right to see the parts.if you go to the numbers on the screen,ie 1 or 2,when the little hand giving you the bird comes up,hit enter & it will give you a listing of nissan part numbers & PRICES IN RAND.i don't know how currrent these are,but as it is 5.5 rand to an australian dollar,& almost 2 dollars aus to 1 dollar us,i suppose just divide by 10.the only problem is it doesn't show an injection manifold in there.also, see my posting about my experiences with these manifolds,& some of the suggestions i made for alternatives.this is on the for sale forum, under 'wtb fuel injection'. hope this helps.paul

I've bought 2 shipments of parts through nissan ZA over the internet.
I generally email/talk with Karin Britts. I send the parts department a request containing a list of the part numbers from the website.
They ship DHL. It normally takes a couple of months, because most of the parts need to come from Japan (via south africa).
It's a pain in the ass though. $100 worth of parts cost $200 as the banks charge like nothing else to transfer money, then the government puts a 30% duty on top + 25% GST on top of that. The bank doesn't know how much each of the intermediatory banks will charge for the transfer, as no Australian banks have a working relationship with Nissan's bank in J'burg. This means that you have to pay an extra $20-30 bucks per intermediate bank for the transfer. The final bank keeps all of the extra, so that the destination only gets the amount specified in the transfer. And you never get reciepts for where all of the money went.
If you keep the value of the parts below $400, then the duty and GST isn't a problem. DHL chase you up for the duty and GST if it's required, you can pay that over the phone with credit card.
The parts work out to be the same price as equivalent car parts here. It's not a bargain, but if you want the parts bad enough then its ok.
They no longer stock many of the hard to get parts, like glovebox lids, metal grill parts. etc etc. I think Nissan SA will have to stop making the Bakkies soon because the Nissan Japan parts appear to be drying up.
Chris.

Thanks b310gx. I'm off to South Africa, well the website at least! I just went there and it looks as though they are still carbureted. I guess I'm going to have to build my own fuelie manifold after all.

yes, chris, thanks for the info, doesn't look as cheap now.oh well, reality strikes.i think i'll still talk to my friend at lintotts,to see if the part numbers are the same, might even be able to get them from japan.BUT,i'd still go for a second hand 5 speed if it could be arranged.now, just have to wait 8 days til my next day off(hey i'm a pizza hut manager,we're open 7 days a week,- but not christmas day,no market for turkey pizzas),then i'll go see him.if the numbers are the same,i'll be sure to tell you all.parts numbers seem to be the only thing we can use from this link, but what an advantage.

i reckon get a 5-speed from N.Z. cause apparently there pretty cheap and there not too far away so it doesnt matter if you go through a couple of old ones, it still works out cheaper

did that once,a brother of a friend found a genuine option 2 close ratio overdrive gearbox, that was going to be mine, mine, mine, but when it got here,it had changed into a normal 5 speed.now,my friends brother won't do any looking for us,& no-one can tell me where that 5 speed went to.probably someone noticed what it was when it was being cleaned for shipment & it was quickly swapped.so i didn't get that one.it's still an option though.

What about the shipping costs - is that included in the price? You listed parts cost, bank fees, customs duty and GST. Will Nissan SA let you pay with Visa or Mastercard? They give a fair exchange rate without extra money transfer fees. The entire rear axle assembly (part number 43100-GG702C AXLE ASSY - REAR) is R 5730.38 or about $563 US. I used the UCC Converter for ZAR to USD. It will also convert directly to AUD.
