aren't you saving for a vr wagon?

just curious of what brand the existing speakers, and 8" subs (big speakers) are

dat_1200_ute,
reasearch a subject before you speak with authority and when you do, realise who is really wasting their money...

sure focal speakers will out perform sony anyday. But we're talking about subs, they all have unique specs and if you take them into account when you build a box it will be quality...

a 4th order bandpass box is extreme quality for low bass but needs HUGE rear enclosure for speakers with a large VAS (generally cheaper). Mounting two of them isobarically enables you to half the size of the enclosure making it high quality/power and practical.

Sure, buy 2 $1000 subs and build a quality box and you will have unbeatable sound but thats not the buget we are talking about... my point is you can save alot of money by putting in effort instead of coin which can be better spent on making your precious a12 sound good.

haha, you are a funny prick, yeah i know exactly what you are talking about with the subs, and yeah it is one way utelising and making something which is cheap and a bit nasty sound alright to the naked ear. but i didn't really care about the subs, i was more having a go at your 4, 5" panasonic speakers, now that is just gay. you will have that much bass that them cheap little 5" speakers wont even be able to be heard, lol, and even if you do amp em up, they will still distort and prob fall apart. lol, and another thing, i love it how you said, that it is better than hearing the drowning of the car, lol, so instead of listening to the drowning of the car, you are keen and mustard to listen to heaps of drowning bass, which is prob worse and more enoying. lol, but hey thats just my two cents worth.
and anyways go the focal 6" splits, now that good sound

i am not sure what sort of subs and speakers are, i was given them by one of my mates. all i know about them is what i previously mentioned, and that they are pretty damned loud and bassy. the 8" subs are cheap sh!t 'avalanches', i don't know what i was thinking when i bought them, but since i got some wood sitting around i thought that i would put them into a box, finally. if i don't like them, i'm not exactly wasting any money.

thanks for the advice on the Sony subs and my 'smart' idea of putting the subs and speakers in the same advice... yeah perhaps i will put the money in the bank or towards the speedway car... all these measurements are growing to be a little bit frustrating... all the same i will still put the 8"s into boxes.

thanks for the advice.

oh yeah, just read the post about me saving for vr wagon... the only reason i could justify buying me some audio equipment was because it could later be installed in my car... hopefully that won't be soon from now.

I don't know what it is with some blokes, like, you fill the back of the car with speaker boxes & amps & wiring & stuff, then where do you put that extra set of mag wheels that you just bought, or the new seats for the next project when you pick them up from the shop /wrecker /motor trimmer? Cars are for doing car stuff in & if i want some overpaid screecher wailing at me, i'l buy a portable tape player. [he wrote while listening to "Sultans of swing" on the computer. Mmmmm Dire Straits. Something with class is always in style]
