my mate paid 2500 for a black top sr20det about 1year and a half ago. just the motor and gearbox i think, probally cheaper now though

dont bother...unless you love completely wasting your time...you wont get much help from here as we have never done it and the guys on BMW forums definatelt wont help...its a stoopid question really.......

i,m wondering wheather it is better to put in a sr20 or to just sell it stock i can get all the pondering stuff figured out my uncle works for dyno dynamics so its all kool ohh yeah its just the motor and gearbox

Fair bit off topic but a SR into a 318... or even better a RB25DET into a mid 80's 2 door 325 would be a ripper conversion... You would have good basic handling to start with, the engine should be about the same size, and old beemers are cheap as.... and you might even be able to pull an easy brake upgrade from a 5, 6 or 7 series. Its been a long time since I have been under one though... I think the sump is at the back rather than the front tho.......

And they dont have the character of a 1200. Hell, they dont even have the character of a sunny
