Has anyone used an aftermarket speedometer in their car? I want to get some new gauges from like Autometer or VDO, but I want them all to match. I don't know if any of the mechanical ones will work, and I don't know if you can get any of the electonic ones to work either. Anyone done this before?

I have a 5" Sportcomp speedo and the stock speedometer cable screws right on.
I believe the .104" sq end on the cable is a standard size.
It will read wrong, though.
Good luck.

I've got all the origional Smiths instruments in my Sprite hooked up my A12 - and gauges don't come much more mechanical than that. It all works fine and has done for 5 odd years now. A bit of work was involved but nothing too hard at all... I'd imagine replacing your instruments with a VDO set would be pretty easy.

Whatever you do tell us how it all works out.

VDO have some really nice ones but you need to find some one who has a good range like a speedo service that recalibate them. Its much easyer if the guy selling them actually knows how to fit them
