Hi all, long time no post.

My question is...

I have an A15 engine, out of a Sunny wagon, a 1981 I believe, and I would like to spend some time giving it some loving. My problem is I don't have an engine manual for this motor, (I have the Datsun 1200 workshop manual).

My concern is about torque on head bolts, and generally what other differences I can expect from the A12.

Any help is appreciated.

My initial thought is to try and find a copy of the Datsun Sunny workshop manual that included this motor...but it hasn't been as easy as it sounds.

Mildman

Hi Mildman,I have a 1976 120Y sunny and a 2005 Nissan A14 bakkie. I resently fit n A15 in the Datsun 120Y, In South-Africa the macs at Nissan told me the head and valve specs is the same as the A14 Head bolts 69Nm to 74Nm,Valve clearance HOT int-0,35mm out-0,35mm. I tried it and it works very fine. ccg

Gregory's no. 195 is Datsun Sunny, any Auto parts store (even Kmart) could order it in for you, but they cost too much.
Swapmeets are good for manuals.

What do you need from the manual? I have the factory manual for suspension, drivline, engine, trans, wiring and everything else. I dont think any of the manuals came out with the specs of the A15, only the A14 - A12... I stand corrected on that tho!!

I have uploaded some of the specs out of my manual on this site, pm me if you need them.

Try on ebay aswell, its the best $3.50 ive ever spent!

As far as I've seen, Nissan didn't have a factory "A15 engine" manual. They put the info in with the car. So the B310 Manual should have it.

But as mentioned, valve and headbolt torque is the same as A14, see the Tune Up article in our Tech Section.

Appreciate all the help guys, I'll give something back too.

I have found
Nissan / Datsun Sunny May 1982-Oct 86 Haynes No. 895 - covers the 1498cc petrol engine...

This is the car I got it the engine out of so I might try and buy one.

Also it really isn't much...but here is a bit of a blog about stripping down an A12 engine (my first attempt at a website...)

My Datto A12 engine strip

When I'm done with this A12 (for which I have the Datsun 1200 manual) I'll start requesting the bits of the A15 manual...once I work out what I need.

I really enjoy the Datsun 1200 because of this community we have going.

Look forward to continuing to contribute.
